Captain Drake’s Flight School Practical Test Packages

Thank you for considering us for you Sport Pilot initial Practical Test or your Certified Flight Instructor with a sport pilot rating practical test. 

In these cases we have three main ways to do these tests. 

      1) The candidate is all ready for the exam and is seeking an examiner to arrive at their airport and conduct said test. In that case you’ll be qualified, prepared, endorsed for the test, and have your 8710-11 already prepared in IACRA and signed by your recommending CFI. You’ll have secured the use of the airplane too. In this case….. My fee will be: $2000 for the test, and $1,000 to cover my travel lodging and food. 

         2) The candidate is all ready for the exam, has been trained and endorsed by the recommending CFI and has their 8710-11 filled out and signed by the recommending CFI. In this case the package includes: picking the client up at the KMFR airport and delivering them to Captain Drake Lodge, a short orientation flight in our aircraft, the practical test, up to 2 nights at the lodge, and delivering them back to the KMFR airport if needed. Fee for this package: $1,500

           3) The candidate is not completely ready for the test. They still need a CFI to prepare them and give the endorsement for taking the test and to sign the 8710-11 application form in IACRA. In this case…. my package includes: Picking the client up at the Medford (KMFR) airport, delivering them to the Captain Drake’s Lodge, giving them a day of orientation flight in my aircraft to familiarize them with the operation of the aircraft as well as the local area landmarks and airport, provide a CFI to conduct the hours in preparation required for the practical test and the endorsement to take the test, up to 4 nights at the Captain Drake Lodge, the practical test, and a return trip to KMFR airport if needed. If the first test is concluded with an unsatisfactory outcome or a discontinuance and a retest can reasonable be completed the following day that will be provided at no additional charge.  Fee for this premium package is: $2,500

Note that is the candidate is found to be needing more training to become “qualified” the additional training and lodging required will be associated with additional cost
